Not only is Val Thorens a great ski resort it's also a great spa resort and with 15 to choose from, you're almost spoilt for choice.

We've picked out some of the best ones we think you should definitely visit on your next trip here.

Altapura Spa, Val thorens pool

Altapura Spa

For ultimate luxury try the 5 star Altapura Spa 'pure altitude' where they offer a specialist skincare range exclusively made in the Alps. They have a stunning indoor/outdoor pool facing Cime Caron and offer a 'Nordic spiral' with wet and dry heat, waterfall showers and ice in the 'igloo'.

To make sure that you take full advantage why not opt for the day spa package at 140 euros which includes access to the full spa facilities, one 50 minute treatment choosing from massage, facial or exfoliation and a gourmet three course lunch. Just be sure to book in advance.

The Pashmina Spa by l'Occitane, Val Thorens relaxation area

Also in the 5 star range, the Pashmina Spa by L'Occitane has three treatment rooms, a heated swimming pool with mountain views, wooden sauna, steam room, multi-sensory showers, jacuzzi bathed in natural light and of course beautiful L'Occitane products too. Enjoy the beautiful mountain views from the relaxation room whilst you unwind.

Enjoy a relaxing aromatherapy massage with essential oils at 65 euros for 30 minutes or 120 euros for 60 minutes. If your feet are aching after skiing all day then a reflexology session could be just what you're after, priced at 85 euros for 45 minutes. Spa packages are also available by the day or by the week.

Over at another of Val Thorens' 5 star hotels, the Fitz Roy, there are a fantastic range of treatments to choose from in their spa. If the weeks' skiing has taken its toll on your legs, then they offer a wonderful 25 minute leg massage for 65 euros and if you really want to treat yourself, they also offer a six day package with a massage or facial every day of your holiday (650 euros).

A quick relaxing 25 minute facial costs around around 70 euros or a 55 minute hot stone massage to ease aches and pains costs 125 euros. They offer treatments for men too with a 60 minute facial at 120 euros. The kids aren't left out either, with a back and leg massage with coconut oil for children aged 7-15 yrs which is 110 euros.

Le Bains du Montana Spa

Le Bains du Montana spa offers alternative après ski, the perfect way to end a ski day, with a three hour session with three massages of your choice for 225 euros. You'll find this spa in the five star Residence Montana, where it is also possible to just opt for access to the spa facilities, which ranges from 10 euros per day (one hour access) to 48 euros for a pass for the whole week. They are open every afternoon/evening from 16:00 until 20:00 (except on Saturdays when they are closed).

The Tango Spa also offer a great value massage pack including five 30 minute massages for 200 euros. If you need something a little more specialised they also offer a sports massage, which for 45 minutes working on your ski aches and pains will cost 65 euros. Escale Zen offer a fantastic service where they will provide in-chalet massages with prices starting from 40 euros. This is a great solution for a whole group of people to take advantage, without having to leave your chalet and good because don't have to head out into the cold afterwards. You just need to reserve in advance.

Hotel Fahrenheit Seven also offers spa facilities as do Hotel Le Sherpa, Le Spa du Koh-I Nor, Les Balcons & Thalgo, Hotel Club MMV and Le Spa de L'Oxalays. The Val Thorens Sports centre also offers great spa facilities which can be used on a pay per day service (time not limited) and they also have treatment rooms too. So all in all, there's plenty to choose from whether it's just a relaxing swim, sauna and steam or six days of massage.
