Val Thorens 2nd for guaranteed snow 2019
In a public vote of over 120,000 people
Val Thorens has been nominated as the 2nd best European resort for guaranteed snow in a vote held by the European Destinations of Excellence Network (EDEN).
Created by the European Commission, the EDEN aims to promote sustainable tourism across the EU by supporting the best destinations in the continent, comprising over 350 destinations from 27 European countries. A record 120,000 people from 100 different countries took part in the vote which saw Val Thorens awarded the second spot in the Best Ski Resorts for Guaranteed Snow category, after Alpe d'Huez.
Val Thorens is a compact, purpose built resort at an altitude of 2300m, the highest ski resort in Europe. It offers an extended season when compared to most other resorts, opening nearly two months longer, from the last week in November until the first week in May. Situated at the top of the Three Valleys, its high altitude makes it snow sure and the modern ski lift system makes it easy to access the linked resorts of Meribel and Courchevel.
