Val Thorens to host Ski Cross World Cup

The International Ski Federation has announced the schedule for the Ski Cross world cup and Val Thorens will hold the first European stage of the world cup on the 18th and 19th of December 2012.

An exciting addition to the Val Thorens agenda - ski cross is one of the most extreme and exciting new snow sports around, which has gained international recognition with the inclusion in the 2010 winter Olympics.

The sport of ski cross is essentially a timed descent on a course which includes jumps, rollers and banks. The excitement comes in when skiers start simultaneously on the knock-out rounds.

Val Thorens has previous experience in hosting ski cross events and with it's high altitude terrain, the resort will be an ideal spot for the world cup tour.
